The stakes are high this weekend at Max as the stadium hosts its Gold Belt Championship. The culmination of 4, 4 man tournaments, the finalists of the qualifying Silver Belt Championships will battle it out for the Gold Belt and 1,000,000 baht. Meun Sokhuch from Cambodia, Guillame Pascal from France, Frabrice Delannon from Guiana and Luke Bar from Wales will draw lots on Saturday after the weigh ins to determine the fight order.

Meun Sokhuch gained his entry to the tournament with a first round KO win over Umut Norgaz from Turkey. Meun battered Umut’s arms with punishing left kicks that caused Umut to collapse. Meun then went on to secure a lose points victory over the ferocious puncher Sammon Deckers in August of last year. Meun Sokhuch is a technical fighter that enjoys retaliation. He trains out of Chor Ratanachai gym in Rayong and he’s had an impressive record of 58 wins and 23 losses.

The French fighter, Guillame Pascal, gained his entry to the tournament with a points victory against Mungkornpate Aor Sabaitae from Thailand and Timur MAMAZATIKOV from KYRGYZSTAN in September of 2016. His defeat over Timur was particularly sweet as Timur was a previous Gold Belt Champion but with precision punches Guillame was able to take the judge’s decision. Training out of Max Sport Gym in Bangkok the French fighter has had 37 wins and 9 losses.

Frabrice Delannon from Guiana is a familiar face at Max having fought a handful of times over the years at the stadium. The lengthy boxer gained his entry with a points victory over Muhamad Galaoui from Tunsia and a fourth round victory over Luke Bar. Training out of Or Sansuk Muay Thai gym in Chonburi Frabrice is a tall lengthy fighter with 38 wins and only 8 losses under his belt.

Last minute replacement Luke Bar is entering the tournament as a bit of an underdog having previously succumbed to Frabrice Delannon in a qualifying Silver Belt Championship. Bar recently moved from Kaewpitak Muay Thai gym in Phuket to the new Sansuk gym in Pattaya. Luke has graced the Max ring multiple times and has been able to dig deep when behind to come out with some stunning victories.

Make sure to see the show ringside at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, broadcast live on channel 8, and streaming on Fite.TV Sunday February 26th 2016 at 7:20pm Thai Time.
