Our weekly Sunday night card is packed this week and features fighters from around the world against Thai opponents. The number one rated show has been hitting high peaks with an exciting spinning back elbow KO last week and a double knockdown the week before.
This week sees Welsh sensation Luke Bar battling it out against Mungkornpate Aor Sabaitae at 68kg. Mungkornpate has been on a bit of a hiatus from the Max ring but has secured a 4 Man Championship belt.
“I’ve seen him fight before,” Bar said. “He punches hard but I’ll be ready for him.” Bar has been training and fighting out of Sansuk Gym in Northern Pattaya for the last few fights and has decided to relocate to the city.
“This camp has been pretty normal,” Bar said. He’s gotten used to the routine here at Max and recently challenged American Warren Stavone for the 68kg Silver Belt. Bar dropped the bout on points but felt strong. “I thought I did good in the first and second. I was really hoping for an extra round. Stavone is a friend but I’d like to fight him again.”
Bar has had a few losses in his past here at Max dropping a points decision to Gold Belt winner Fabrice Delannon and again losing to Delannon a few months later in a rematch in which he was a late tournament addition.
We’ve seen Bar be able to really pound it out in the past and there is no bottom to his aggression. An all-around fighter his strength is derived from his tenacity and ability to preserve despite challenges.
His next bout against Mungkornpate will be another test for his diamond heart!

Check it out ringside at the Max Muay Thai Stadium at 7pm, Live on Channel 8 and streaming on the Fite.tv app.
