French Lao fighter Sai Chanthany is a regular at Max and did a superb job in his battle against Petchnamneung Tor Taisong. The two clashed together at 58kgs with both fighters winning a 5,000 baht bonus for their performance in the ring.
The bout was part of the Sunday night Max Ultimate Show which pits Thai fighters against foreign opponents from around the world. The show is the highest rated televised Muay Thai show in Thailand.
The pressure was on for Sai when he fought though. "I'd seen Petchnamneung fight before. He won the 4 Man Champion belt and I was nervous."
Despite his worries Chanthany was able to perform, slamming in the right kicks and right hands. "After two minutes into the first round I felt fine," he said. "I felt strong and more technical."
His technical abilities have been boosted by his recent move to Max Sport Gym in Bangkok. Previously Chanthany was in southern Thailand at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket. "The gym is very good," Chanthany said. "I have a lot of French friends and the trainers work specifically with me."
Chanthany is now on a much deserved break. "I will go to Kanchanaburi with friends. I will also eat some cake."
Come Friday though Chanthany will be back in the ring preparing for his next bout. We will see more of the French Lao fighter in the future!
