Bad day at the office for Barateau

It was a rough night in the office for Frenchman Alexis Barateau after he took on Dekrabert Loukaangtanon on Sunday night’s Max Ultimate show. Barateau felt he didn’t have the tools to take on Dekrabert and in the first and second, he floundered. He had a strong third round but it wasn’t enough to sway the judge’s decision.

“It was difficult. I didn’t know how to fight him because he had more experience. I got frustrated and started to swing my punches without setting them up and faking,” Barateau said.

At the last seconds of the second round Dekrabert cut into Barateau with a slashing elbow. Blood rained down his face. After the fight went the distance Barateau received 13 stitches. “It didn’t hurt,” he said. “It wasn’t the same as the pain when I broke my hand.”

Barateau broke his hand late last year with an overhand right and had to take several weeks to recover. He’s been back at Max since and is still game to fight. “I will rest and enjoy my holiday but will go back to training in about 5 days when the stitches come out.”
