Luca Negreira is no stranger to Max Muay Thai. The Swiss fighter has been competing on the Max Ultimate show regularly over the last year. The weekly event aired on Channel 8 in Thailand and ringside at the Max Muay Thai stadium pits Thais versus foreigners.
Lately though Negreira has been home in Switzerland. “This year I’ve not been lucky,” Negreira said. “I had three fights. I lost on points in one, got a draw in another and got a ko loss in a 4 man tournament.”
While he has been “unlucky” of late Negreira is relying on hard work and persistence to sway the whim of lady luck. “I’ve been training hard lately. I’ve switched gyms temporarily and am at a gym in Bangkok. The pad rounds are five minutes long each. It is very difficult,” he said.
Negreira has been a full time fighter out of Sitmonchai gym in Kanchanaburi province, west of Bangkok. When he is not engaging in the science of eight limbs he works as a construction worker back in Switzerland.
He is very much determined to build his name and being part of Max is a huge foundation for that. “I like to fight in Thailand but I also want to have a big name that way I can open a Muay Thai gym one day,” Negreira said.
“I don’t know anything about my opponent but I will be ready for him,” Negreira said of his opponent Drogba Aor Bor Jor Longsamakudonthanee.
Make sure to keep an eye out for Negreira who is looking to pound out another win for himself and build a legacy for himself. He’s the fourth fight of the night against the solid Drogba at 73kg.
